After over 2 years of development, Phorum 5 has reached a stable release. From this day forward, we will reccomend that all new users install Phorum 5.
Here are just a few of the new features that Phorum 5 brings to the table.
- Fewer tables in the database.
- All HTML is now in a template system
- Fine control of the order that forums appear in the forum list
- Control permissions on a per-user/per-feature basis
- Moderate registration
- Moderation from message list
- Notice in Phorum pages when moderation is pending
- User selectable timezone (admin may disable it)
- User selectable forum-template (admin may disable it)
- Registered users can report messages to the admins
And much, much more.
At this time, we will still field support questions for Phorum 3. However, over time, our support for Phorum 3 will be phased out.
Here are some reasons you may not want to upgrade:
- Attachments are not currenlty upgraded.
- There is no Phorum 5 PostgreSQL module, yet.
- Anonymous users no long have the options they did in Phorum 3.
